About Our Church
The Flagg Center Church of God had its beginnings in the 1950s when students from the, then, Oregon Bible College (in Oregon, IL, about 20 miles west of Rochelle) initiated Bible studies in the building located at the intersection of Flagg and Center Roads in rural Rochelle, IL. The church has been ministering to the needs of the people in the Rochelle area ever since. The church was moved in 2020 from the corner of Flagg and Center Roads to 13741 E. Flagg Rd to better serve the Rochelle area. We are a group of people who believe that the Bible is God’s Word to us. We want to learn more about God and His plan for our future. To do this we focus on learning what the Bible says to us. We want to be obedient to God in all that we do. We are not perfect in obedience, but we try. If you want to learn more about God and the Kingdom He has planned for us, please, come join us. We would really like to share our hope with you.
Our Mission & Vision
Our vision and mission is to help connect people to faith!
Let’s face it, we’re all searching…
…for truth
…for meaning
…for purpose
…for love
…for connection
…for community.
Mission & Purpose
At FCCoG, we believe that each of us can find these things when we unite with the Body of Christ.
Creating an environment where people can discover Jesus, grow in their faith, and connect with others is what our church is all about. In fact, loving God, loving people, and growing together is our highest priority.
So if you are searching, come join us and find the things you are looking for and a whole lot more! We have ministries for all ages.
God has called our church to a special ministry of service. “Serving God, Family and Community” is the motto that drives our various ministries and keeps us focused on how we can best be the church that God wants us to be. At FCCoG, we are always looking for new ways to serve God, to serve families, and to serve our community. If you have a heart for service, we have opportunities for you. If you know of a need where our church might be able to serve, we would love to hear from you.
Our Beliefs
We accept the Bible and the Bible only as the inspired Word of God, and as containing the doctrines of life and salvation. We believe that we should put forth earnest, prayerful effort to rightly divide and apply its teachings in accordance with the instructions given in 2 Timothy 2:15.
We believe the following outstanding truths of the Bible should be taught, and that full acceptance thereof is necessary to a fuller and proper understanding of God’s Word.
- There is but one God who is Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. (Ephesians 4:6)
- Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God, conceived of the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. (John 3:16; Luke 1:35)
- The Holy Spirit is the power of God, manifest in creation, in the birth of Christ, and in the lives of all consecrated children of god. (Job 33:4; Luke 1:35; Romans 8:9).
- Man is a mortal creature of God, dependent upon Christ for immorality and salvation. (1 Corinthians 15:53,57).
- Salvation is by grace, it is the gift of God through the death and resurrection of His only begotten Son. (Ephesians 2:8,9). Our part in God’s plan of salvation is to:
-
- Repent. (Acts 2:38)
- Accept Jesus as Savior. (Acts 4:12)
- Be baptized by immersion. (Romans 6:4)
- Remain diligent until Christ’s return (Hebrews 6:12)
-
- Continued obedience of faith is a requisite to maintain one’s relationship to Christ and to assure victory through Christ. (2 Peter 1:5-8).
- The church will teach and abide by the Abrahamic Covenant (Gen. 12:1-3; Gen. 15:18-19; Gen. 17:7-15, 19
- God’s Kingdom is a literal kingdom yet to be established throughout the earth with Christ as king and his immortalized saints as co-rulers with him.(Revelation 5:9-10; 20:6)
- When Jesus returns, the Church will be completed and glorified. Believers who are sleeping in death will be resurrected to immortality in the first resurrection. (1 Corinthians 15:51-53; 1 Thessalonians 4:17)
- The Kingdom of God will be established upon the earth after the second coming of Christ. It will be the eternal dwelling place of the redeemed. it will supersede and replace all earthly kingdoms. The earth will be purified of sin and restored to its original perfection. (Daniel 2:44)
